Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is an American anchor for a television newscast and a anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. Growing up living in New York City, Mitchell obtained a bachelor's degree in English literature at The University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. 1976 Mitchell joined WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). Then, she became a Washington general correspondent to NBC News two years later. From 1981 onwards, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988 she was named chief congressional reporter. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992. and the chief correspondent for foreign affairs at NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV program Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the 1988 debates between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded in 2005 the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in the John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her contribution in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first covered for the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of Ronald Reagan's presidency. She has covered several notable stories over the years, such as the tax reforms, budget reforms as well as The Iran Contra scandal. She travelled frequently together with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
